At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung Electronics released their two newest music phones, the Samsung Beat DJ and the Samsung Beat Disc with technology from Danish audio maker Bang & Olufsen. Through stereo speakers featuring B&O’s ICEpower amplifier, Samsung BeatDJ and BeatDisc promise “deep rich bass and crystal clear treble”.
The Samsung Beat DJ
The BeatDJ will sport a 2.8-inch, AMOLED touchscreen, running at a WQVGA widescreen resolution of 240 by 400 pixels. The phone has a simple touch panel with a unique “Disc UI” for music playback. Moreover, Â the phone uses a combination of touch sensitive hardware and touchscreen to create a virtual wheel for the “Spin Wheel Touch” features. The new phones also use Samsung’s new “Beat DJ” software for mixing and sound effects. Â The Samsung Beat DJ will use fast HSDPA for networking speeds up to 7.2Mbps. The BEAT DJ comes with 50MB of on-board memory, expandable to 16GB with the microSD card slot. Around back, users will find a 3-megapixel camera with auto focus, smile detection and geo tagging. The Beat DJ can also record video at VGA resolution up to 15 fps.
The Beat Disc
The Beat Disc has a 2.6-inch 16.7 million color touch screen and an integrated 3.0-megapixel CMOS camera to capture photos and videos.The Samsung BEAT DISC features quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) support and dual-band UMTS (900/2100MHz) support with HSDPA data for high-speed connectivity. Additional features include a slide-out keypad, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth technology, Â and music recognition and tagging software.
