Apparently, Samsung, the Korean giant is preparing to launch the first smartphone with 8 megapixel camera. Along with the 8-megapixel camera, Samsung also tries to compete among highly-featured camera phones. Samsung i8510  will feature 8 Megapixel camera with auto focus, xenon flash and video recording at 120fps (in QVGA mode). In terms of design, the smartphone seems to be a mix between the 5 Megapixel G810 and the Soul U900, both of which are sliders – hence the new Samsung is also a slider and it looks pretty cool.
Other exiting features of the Samsung i8510 include Wi-Fi and GPS, which also comes with assisted-GPS functionality for better cold start performance of the navigation services. The display of the Primera will be a 2.8-inch QVGA one and version of the Symbian utilized is 9.3 with S60 UI. The amount of RAM memory is 128 MB and there will be a dedicated 3D graphics accelerator. Unfortunately there is no information regarding the CPU used in the multimedia monster. i8510 can have a built-in memory of either 8GB or 16GB, so there will be two versions released – just like in the case of Samsung Omnia and iPhone 3G.
Samsung i8510 will offer a 3.5mm standard audio jack which is also capable of transferring surround 5.1 sound dedicated to music lovers. The Primera will also have ability of recording slow-motion videos in QVGA resolution at 120 fps which matches the capabilities of the LG KU990 Viewty and KF750 Secret. includes a powerful 1200 mAh battery that should be able to keep the smartphone alive for up to 6 hours in talk-time mode, and up to 280 hours in stand-by time. The official announcement of this multimedia monster is expected to come somewhere around the middle of August and the price tag is rumored to be about 780 euro.
