Verizon Wireless, the second largest US mobile carrier, will be launching the new Samsung U430 phone on its network. The SCH-430 is freshly FCC-approved from Samsung. It is packed only with basic features with capacity for 500 names, alarm, calendar and calculator. The U430 is a clamshell that comes as the successor of the U410 model, another clamshell that’s part of Verizon’s line-up since last year. The new model has identical specifications (still VGA 0.3MP camera and 128×160 internal display) but is slightly redesigned. It lacks any multimedia features. Expect it to be free with a contract when it launches on the Verizon Wireless network.
The features of Samsung U430 include: an internal main TFT display with 65K colors and 128 x 160 pixels, an external secondary display with the same number of colors but only 96 x 96 pixels, dual-band CDMA connectivity (800 / 1900 MHz), Location Based Services (VZ Navigator plus Chaperone Parent/Child included), Bluetooth 2.0, email and Instant Messaging, WAP 2.0 browser, SMS and MMS capabilities, T9 predictive text input, speakerphone and so on.
