Roger and HTC finally put the “computer” in High Tech Computer by making the jump to ultraportable PC-maker. They have officially announced today the launch of the Shift UMPC. The Shift use a split keyboard or a *shudder* on-screen circle pad, besides it makes like the Advantage with its sliding and flipping screen. The Shift can serve as a substitute for a laptop when you’re out of the house, away on business trips—or hell, even at home. With the input problem solved, you can really enjoy the 7-inch touchscreen, 40 GB hard drive, Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA, Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, and Windows Vista. Unfortunately, the full keyboard just had way too many keys packed in to type remotely accurately on. The Rogers HTC Shift is available starting today for $1599.99 (Canadian). We’re ready to leave our laptops at home now.
