Skype 3.0 Beta for Windows Mobile

Skype has recently announced the release of its Skype 3.0 Beta for the Windows Mobile operating system. This release adds two important features that make the mobile version more like the desktop version: free file transfer and SMS texting. For the new sms texting feature, the text message you are sending will be charged by Skype and is based on Skype’s rate according to your country. It is much lower than your service provider rate, according to Skype.

The rest of the features that we are accustomed to see with Skype are present in the new 3.0 Beta version as well, including support for free Skype-to-Skype calls, free Skype-to-Skype instant messaging, as well as calls to landlines or mobile phones with Skype Credit or a subscription. Once loaded, the application goes straight to users’ contact lists, where they can choose to make calls or message their contacts.
