At CES 2010, Waterproof handset maker Sonim Technologies announced the Sonim XP3.2 Quest Pro. which is due to be launched into the American market. Presented by the company as “the toughest phone available with an IP67 rating.”, The device has been tested against Sonim’s rugged performance standard. The toughest phone available with an IP67 rating – drop it from up to 6.5 feet onto concrete; use it for up to 18 hours; submerge it in water; leave it outside at -5 to +130 degrees; cover it in dust; and never get lost with onboard assisted GPS! This new model comes with a Gorilla Glass display, which is also featured on the Motorola DROID, to help protect it from scratches and nicks.
Other features include a 2MP camera with flash, GPS, flashlight, FM radio, 2GB memory slot, Java applications such as Trimble Outdoors, amAze GPS navigation, SonimMail, an Opera Mini browser and Bluetooth. Battery life boasts are up to 18 hours talk or 1500 hours standby. It starts shipping in the US immediately and can be used on AT&T and T-Mobile networks, priced at $499 unlocked.
