India is the second largest mobile market in the world and attracts Sony Ericsson to bring Sony’s high-quality TV / display brand, Bravia, to India. Then, India might be the first country besides Japan to get Sony Ericsson Bravia mobile phones. President of Sony Ericsson India, Arun Sethi, has said a Bravia phone for this region could be coming soon. Sony Ericsson’s market share in India is at about 13 percent, and compared to Nokia’s huge market share of 62.5 percent. Sony Ericsson expects India to contribute almost 25 per cent of the global handset business over the next two years. To do that Sony is ramping up its manufacturing facility in India to churn out almost 10 million handsets a year, most of which will be low cost, in line with the rural thrust of many mobile operators. Within India’s rapidly expanding economy, the Bravia brand is well known and viewed positively so it’s likely to thrive in a market with millions of new users. For the moment, there are no details about which Bravia phones will be released in India, but mobile users should expect them to be very nice devices anyway.
