The Palm Pre smartphone will be available in Europe before the end of the year exclusively through carrier partnerships with Telefonica’s O2 and Movistar. Telefonica Europe has won exclusive distribution of the device with O2 in the UK, Ireland, and Germany, and with Movistar in Spain, according to a press release. Palm Chairman and CEO, Jon Rubinstein has to say about it, “Europe continues to be an important region for Palm, and we’re proud to work with O2 and Movistar to spread the excitement Palm Pre has already ignited in North AmericaSince we showed Palm Pre at Mobile World Congress in February, there’s been a great deal of anticipation for an announcement about European availability, and that day is here.“. O2 already has exclusive British and Irish rights to the iPhone including the newly available 3GS version, giving it an edge over rivals Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and 3 this summer. The Palm Pre includes a vivid 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a slide-out portrait keyboard, and 8GB of internal memory to store data, like photos taken with the device’s 3 megapixel camera.
