Pantech in Korea has launched a new “Neon Sign” clamshell phone with HSDPA support. Pantech perseveres to bring simplicity back to mobile phones with their latest model. The Pantech IM-U300K is a clamshell that is HSDPA capable with WCDMA global roaming and video calling. Available this week in Korea, it has 49 LEDs on the front panel which can display different icons depends on the notification. These LEDs have the ability to form personalized messages for 15 different situations including receiving messages, alarm, and caller identification. Users can also create their own personalized icons with the bundled PC Sync Tool. Moreover, with its PC-based software, besides allowing users to make their own designs, later can be exchanged between phones via infrared (totally rad right up until that last bit, which seems straight outta 2002)
There is also the usual suite of applications like an mp3 player, electronic dictionary, and a document viewer. Other features of the phone include DMB reception, a document viewer, and global roaming.
The IM-U300K Neon-Sign phone will be available in a choice of white, sky blue, and black on Korea’s KTF mobile network although there is no information on when.
