Toshiba today announced the expansion of its Qosmio entertainment notebook lineup with the Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55. The company says the multimedia-oriented Qosmio G55 is “the world’s first notebook to incorporate a parallel media co-processor”, also used in Sony PlayStation 3. Toshiba is re-christening the Quad Core HD processor which is based on the Cell processor technology co-developed by Toshiba, Sony and IBM. This technology is famous for its use within the Sony PlayStation 3 and various supercomputers. Banded as the Toshiba Quad Core HD processor, users are provided with enough power to control and create personal movie projects.
The Toshiba Qosmio X305, a 17-inch gaming notebook, sports the new NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX GPU with up to 1GB of video memory, dual hard drives with a total of up to 400GB of storage space, as well as DDR3 RAM. The X305 has an “aggressively bold chassis” and red-flamed Rogue design.The Qosmio F55 is also designed for gamers and features a 15.4-inch display and the NVIDIA GeForce 9700 GTS graphics card. It’s Toshiba’s first laptop with a built-in GPS receiver. REGZA LINK HDMI technology is present in every model in the announced Qosmio series. Toshiba describes that this feature enables simultaneous instant device configuration, and the ability to control REGZA LINK enabled devices, such as Toshiba?s REGZA HDTVs and a Qosmio laptop, with a single remote.
