Ulysse Nardin’s Chairman is the steampunk Prius of phones

Ulysse Nardin is better known as a Swiss luxury watchmaker, has a new concept about phones.  Dubbed “The Chairman”, Ulysse Nardin’s innovative new smart phone will offer a number of unique features. The phone will incorporate a watch-style kinetic system for charging the phone’s battery. A little hand waving could generate enough juice to run a mobile phone, but the company says that it will only power a backup battery. Luxury watch brand Ulysse Nardin says it has partnered with a mysterious U.K.-registered firm, SCI Innovations, to create this mobile phone.

The Chairman phone features a number of details inspired by fine wristwatches, including an exhibition window which reveals the guilloche engraved energy-generating kinetic rotor. Production will be limited to an edition of 1,846 pieces.
