YouTube goes native for S60 3rd Edition

YouTube has released a native application for Symbian S60 platform.  It features a simple interface that lets you easily browse and search videos. The videos are displayed in full-screen, and the image quality is said to be good as it looks to have been optimised for QVGA screen resolution. The app is compatible with most S60 3rd Edition phones(5800 XpressMusic is not fully supported, unfortunately).

There’s a basic interface to browse and search through YouTube’s extensive video catalog. All videos are shown in full screen, but widescreen videos are shown in a ‘letter-box’ format. You can also view videos as thumbnails, with short descriptions or miscellaneous info.

To download the native YouTube app, visit m.youtube.com from your S60 3rd Edition handset. Unfortunately, it looks like for the moment only users in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand can get the app
